Postcards
Just before I left for Austria my Canon 550D decided to stop working. I had been using it a lot recently, but this was nonetheless disappointing as I had no time to sort it out before I left. So after filling out a few forms it was sent off for repair. The Canon service centre had it fixed in a few days and didn’t charge me a penny! However the post to Austria was not so enigmatic! The camera finally found it’s way to me in January, and since then I haven’t had much time to...
Got Snow?
This season started off with a bang! There was no snow until the start of December, and then suddenly, in the span of a few weeks, the mountain was experiencing the best snowfall in years! My Canon was absent due to repairs, so we put together a little film with the GoPro! It mainly just shots of snow, snow, and more snow. But hey, isn’t that what everyone wants from a season? So far it’s been a great few months, and now we have a bit of sun and blue skies, the next edit will...
Colder Climbs
If it looks warm, it isn’t. November in Ireland brings the temperature into single digits, and these two days of climbing were no different. 5 degrees and falling. At least the climbing heralded no falls. The Marconi crag has been our climbing playground for the past few months, and with the sun shining and the ground dry (reasonably), there was no better day to break out the ropes and try a few routes. It was good fun as always, and although no tough routes were tackled, it certainly had...
London Freeze Festival
A month later and I’m back in London for the Relentless Freeze Festival at Battersea Powerstation. Last year I was on the reserve list for riding, but this year they didn’t even get back to me. It appears they don’t like hearing about Irish snowboarders. But anyhow, what can you do? Staying with my best friend Beth again (thanks!) and meeting up with a lot of great friends made it a great week, but one that resulted in me missing a lot of filming on Game of Thrones, which was...
London Living
I decided to take a trip over to see a good friend in London and make it a proper tourist visit. My previous times there have always been rushed, or just passing through, so now it was time to see what this London malarkey was all about! Just before I left I luckily checked the weather forecast, as my bag was originally filled with coats and jumpers. These were replaced by shorts and t-shirts, and a good job they were! Every day was a cloudless sky with temperatures hitting 30 degrees. It felt...
Holocene by Bon Iver
Ireland again. For this edit I had planned a short story that contained two characters and would make for a more involving film. However this didn’t work out in the end, as my friend Ciara (who can be seen here in some shots) left for work in Spain. Dang. So that idea has been shelved for the future. For now though, it’s just more Ireland. These shots have been taken over the past month in both County Antrim (where I live) and County Kerry. Bon Iver’s new album “Bon...
