From Austria to Ireland

The season came to an end quicker than I could have imagined, and everyone said their goodbye’s. It was a stranger experience than the previous year. The knowledge that the place where we, and so many others before us had lived, was to be demolished to make way for yet another hotel, brought an underlying sense of sadness to the parting.

Nobody could deny that despite all the nights of hard work, the place had become part of our experience at a personal level. The old wooden structure had been home to so many great times, with so many great people, that it seemed inconceivable that it would be gone forever. But alas, it’s fate was sealed, and as I headed for the train station I couldn’t help but think how St.Anton will be irreversibly changed by it’s loss. It may have been a bit ghetto, but we’ll miss it nonetheless.

Arriving back home in Ireland is always nice, but this time without the presence of Nero there was a definite void that I can’t yet comprehend. It was the first time I have came home without him there to greet me, and it is obvious that he was a integral part of our family. I’d like to thank everyone who has offered words of support be it from kindness or experience. Loosing a dog is a very sad thing, akin to loosing a best friend, but it should never prevent you from owning one, and everyday I’m glad that we did.

The weather here has been amazing, with the area looking even more incredible than usual. I’ve been a little busy since returning home, but I intend to do an album or two about this beautiful area very soon. For now though I can add some photo’s that I took last October, and hope to improve upon in the coming weeks.
